Mighty Zulu Kingz vs Skill Methodz Raw Cypha Battle: Check the battle ethics!!
This is from Freestyle Session 11 in 2008, the same Freestyle Session where MZK called out Massive Monkeez in that infamous concrete cypha battle.
Shouts to SKMZ!! I think it was Teknyc from SKMZ that set it off to call out one of the MZK members. I think it was Smurf ...that he called out. Then it became a 3 man battle (Casper, Smurf, Joolz vs Teknyc, Venum, Flipz) with no one else jumped in since none from each side jumped in after that, and let just the 3 from each side continue to battle cuz thats just the rule of engagement. The footage here show like the last 1/2 of the battle if I can remember.
To all BBoys/Girls: Watch and Learn the BATTLE ETHICS by the two crews.
- No shit talking, do the talking on the floor dancing
- No disrespect
- Crew members from both side watching but in battle demeanor mode ready to throw down in case someone else from each side jumps in
- No cheerleading on the sidelines jumping up and down to give props for their crew members even if someone from their crew did some nice rounds.
True class act on how a battle is suppose to be from both crews.
Also, the footage don't show this but when the music stops, the battle stops, and when the music starts again then the battle continue. It went on like this for i think 15-20 minutes. I think this went down during Freestyle Session prelims or top 16. This is only like 1/2 of the battle. I think there were rounds missing from both sides in the beginning of the battle where Teknyc was the first one to set it off.
Take notes...this is an educated post for the future generations on how a battle should be.
Peace to my crew and SKMZ for the inspiration and carrying on tradition on how it should be done!
